Salvation Story No. 10: Small Donation Blesses Angel Tree Recipients
By: Tiffani Jett, Public Relations & Marketing Manager
This past Christmas, with the help of thousands of generous partners, we were able to provide toys for some 3,600 children in Central Florida. On the day before Distribution Day, there was obviously lots of commotion at the “South Pole” as dozens of volunteers helped in making the final preparations for this event. In the midst of all of this, a rather disheveled man walked in, who appeared to be either homeless or indigent. He asked what was going on and one of our workers told him about the Angel Tree program. He then asked if he could also donate to this effort. When told that he could, he handed over to the worker two very simple children’s toys, a single serving can of Ravioli and a small bag of chips. Reminds me of the ancient tale of the widow who gave two small coins to her local place of worship – which was all she had.
Blessings come in all shapes and sizes and for us, this was one of the blessings we received during this past Christmas season.
